Each approach is difficult to definitively circumscribe, and as such has been enacted as a process, a mind-set, specific practices/techniques, or a combination thereof. Both participatory design (PD) and design thinking (DT) have emerged as approaches that hold significant potential for supporting design in this space. We conclude with insights from this experience for improving methodologies for global data sharing and designing data sharing for educational transformation.ĭespite growing interest in the promise of e-mental and well-being interventions, little supporting literature exists to guide their design and the evaluation of their effectiveness. In this paper we describe this data sharing project, highlighting (1) the principles that guided the design of the shared dataset, (2) challenges encountered with implementing the project, and (3) the approach for broadening the dataset experience from sharing to enabling learning partnerships. ![]() International design researchers were invited to apply their expertise to the dataset and participate face-to-face in a multi-day symposium for catalyzing conversations connecting design thinking, teaching, and learning. The shared dataset contains multiple disciplinary instances of design review conversations-digital videos of conversations between those who give and those who receive feedback, guidance, critique, or mentoring during a design review event. This agenda shaped both the design of the shared dataset and the experience of sharing the common dataset to support multiple perspective inquiry and enable integrative and critically reflexive research-to-practice dialogue. ![]() This paper provides an example of a global data sharing project with an educational transformation agenda. This book examines the many facets of design thinking across a range of different design domains through comparing and contrasting the processes, methods and approaches contained within this thought-provoking collection of chapters. Designers, during their design thinking activities, regularly (re)define and/or frame problems they adopt holistic thinking, and they sketch, visualise, and model possible ideas throughout their design processes. Often viewed as a particular style of creative thinking-in-action design thinking can transform the way we develop products, services, processes and even strategy. Design thinking now routinely extends to contemporary forms of design, engineering, business and management practice. Articulating Design Thinking contains a collection of thought-provoking chapters from researchers based in eight different countries around the world Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Israel, UK, USA, Australia, and Turkey that all deal with articulations of design thinking from a variety of perspectives including architecture, inclusive design, industrial design, and interaction design.The phrase design thinking has become cemented in our everyday vocabulary.
